Worthy of His Call

The Rev. Max Wilkins, President and CEO of TMS Global, was our guest preacher at 8am and 10:30 am for the opening Sunday of our Global Impact Celebration on February 10.


Max served as a pastor in Florida and Hawaii for 30 years prior to becoming president and CEO of TMS Global. He has led small and large local churches, planted satellite campuses, and helped to launch more than 100 church plants during that time. Max has been personally engaged in cross-cultural mission work for 20 years, having served and taught in more than three dozen countries around the world. He has been a public advocate for missions in the local church, speaking in more than 100 churches around the US.

Max brings his skills in effective biblical communication, team building, leadership training, institutional financial management and growth, and a missional mindset to lead TMS Global in its third decade of ministry.


Prior to joining TMS Global as president and CEO, Max served as the senior pastor of The Family Church from 2003-2014. The Family Church is an interdenominational congregation of approximately 2,600 people located in a university town in North Central Florida. Max helped grow the mission ministry of The Family Church from an annual budget of $21,000 and a mission team of 12 people, to a global ministry encompassing expenditures of more than $750,000 a year and more than 400 people in short-term missions.

Max served as the teaching pastor and director of edification for New Hope Christian Fellowship in Honolulu, Hawaii from 2002-2003. New Hope is a mega-church of more than 12,000 with a multi-campus ministry, its own college, and a 24/7 television station. While in Hawaii, Max also taught Creative Biblical Communication (preaching) and Strategic Leadership for Church Planting courses at Pacific Rim Bible College.

Max served as the senior pastor of Inverness First United Methodist Church from 1997-2001 in Inverness, Florida. He was the founding pastor of Faith United Methodist Church in Boynton Beach, Florida, where he served from 1990-1997. Max previously served Aloma UMC in Winter Park, FL; Cape Coral First UMC in Cape Coral, FL: Conyers First UMC in Conyers, GA; and St. Paul UMC in Jacksonville, FL.


Max and Dee Dee have been married since 1989 and have two children. Their daughter, Jennifer, graduated from Florida State University and currently lives and studies in New York City. Their son, Joshua, is in college in Florida. Dee Dee is an elementary school teacher.

Max is fluent in Spanish and is currently studying Portuguese. He enjoys reading, watching movies and theater productions, long distance running, surfing, watching sports, traveling, cooking, fishing, and is a big fan of the University of Florida. Go Gators!
