Coca-Cola’s “It’s the Real Thing” campaign was a hit in the 1970s. The slogan heralded in a new direction to respond to research that people seek the real, the original, as an escape from phoniness. Yes, we do seek truth and with all the commercialism and fake news it’s easy to get lost. This Sunday we’ll hear John’s account of the Christmas Story. It’s the story of the Word made flesh, the reality of God becoming man, the glory of His character, the nature of His life and His desire to share that life with us. Jesus is the Real Thing. The question remains for all of us, “Is Jesus the Real Thing in your life?”
