When Alexandre Dumas wrote “The Count of Monte Cristo,” the setting included an island that ultimately would be the focal point of the novel. Chateau d’if served as an island prison for those who held a truth that, if revealed, would bring a light into the darkness. The Prophet Isaiah reminds us of the coming of this Light, and that Jesus would be that Light for a people who walked in darkness. Today we celebrate that nothing of this world can withhold the truth that Jesus Christ is the Light of the world.
