Walk for Water – March 25, 2017 – Water Mission

Last year St. Michael’s formed a team and had a great turnout (30+ parishioners) for this event! We’ve set up a team again this year, and want to encourage congregation members to sign up for the church team if they are interested in walking. It’s a family-friendly event and a great way to support a local Christian organization that is doing life-saving work around the world.

What would be the best way to advertise this event and opportunity to participate? I’ve included a description of the event below, as well as a few registration details – I’d welcome any advice you have on ways to get the word out for this event!

Event Date / Time: Saturday, March 25th at 9:00am
Location: Brittlebank Park

Around the world, millions walk 2-3 hours every day to collect water that’s not safe. We Walk for Water to raise awareness of the global water crisis and funds that save lives. Together, we can go farther this year than we ever have before! CHARLESTONWALK.ORG

2017 Charleston Walk for Water
March 25, 2017 | 9:00 AM

For the women and children who walk for water every single day, we’ll
go farther.

For the children who are sick with water borne illnesses, we’ll
go farther.

For mothers and fathers who hope to raise healthy children, we’ll
go farther.

For communities who are hopeful for a better future, together, we’ll
go farther.

On March 25, 2017 Charleston will rally together to give hope to those who lack access to safe water. As a community, we’ll go farther by raising our voices, by raising funds and by carrying our buckets through the streets of Charleston. Won’t you join us?

Walk for Water Overview

What is the Walk for Water? An amazing one-day event that simulates the average walk that millions take to collect dirty water every single day: 3.5 miles. The Walk for Water is hosted by Water Mission, and it’s raised almost a million dollars for safe water in the past three years.

Why do we walk? For awareness, hope, joy, health, safe water, sanitation, and life. We walk because 1.8 billion people lack access to safe water, and we dream of a world in which every man, woman, and child has safe water.

What is Water Mission? Water Mission is a non-profit Christian engineering organization that provides safe water and sanitation solutions for developing countries and disaster areas around the world.

Because of people like you, Water Mission has provided access to safe water to 3 million people in 52 countries. This number is rising every day, and you can be a part of it.

If you would like to support us, click here to donate. Register here to join us on March 25th. Please email me at betsy.graves.henderson@gmail.com with any questions you may have, or check out the Walk for Water website for more information.
