It was Billy Graham who said: “The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement, I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes and say: O God, forgive me, help me.” Discouragement was good enough for Billy Graham and it was certainly good enough for the Prophet Elijah. Elijah thought he was the last person on earth still true to God, and therefore the discouragement he’s feeling in the book of Kings is herculean. Yet, Elijah teaches us how to get through discouragement by as much what he doesn’t do, as what he actually does. You may arrive in church discouraged, but prayerfully you will leave today equipped with encouragement, rooted in Jesus Christ!
