A Plunge in the Depths

Sermon on Sunday
A Plunge in the Depths
Baptism. Most of us reading this have either been baptized or seen a baptism. Christian baptism is something different from the baptism which Jesus experienced, yet his baptism and ours have a couple of remarkable parallels. But the very fact of Jesus presenting himself to John for baptism in the Jordan River was something of a bewildering disconnect. John thought it was backwards, inappropriate somehow. Jesus had other ideas – and one unfathomable idea at the heart of it all. This Sunday, we look at the significance of Jesus taking the plunge in the waters of baptism.
