Dynamic Downtown Worship in the Anglican Tradition
St. Michael's Tiffany Window

Response to the Texas Church Shooting

Dear St. Michaelites and Friends,

It seems almost daily… our window above the altar that reflects Revelation 12 comes eerily to life. That window depicts Satan in battle with Archangel Michael.

Yesterday, on All Saints Day, that battle continued when a 26 year old man claimed the lives of 26 worshipers in Texas. Again we’re faced with why?

Tomorrow (Tuesday) during Alpha we will be looking at this topic: “How Can I Resist Evil?” I invite you at noon to the Harbor Club over lunch or 6:15 pm in the Kinloch Room over dinner where we will theologically work our way through why these tragedies are happening.

In short, Jesus said this, “The thief (this is one of the names Jesus used for Satan) comes to steal, to kill and to destroy.” Satan’s ultimate aim is to destroy our lives, but Jesus said, “I came that you might have life and life in all its fullness.” (John 10:10)

These are crazy upside down times, but we live in a time where faithfulness in our anchor Jesus Christ is critical, as is our understanding of how Satan operates. Please join us at Alpha as we engage this profound subject of Good over evil.

Blessings and Love in Christ,
Al+
