Dynamic Downtown Worship in the Anglican Tradition

Rector’s Report

Annual meeting, those elected and entering retreat season –

It was the shortest annual meeting / Festival of Faith that we have had or perhaps have ever had at St. Michael’s … 49 minutes! Yet we did everything we set out to do, including setting out a vision for 2017, and electing a great slate of vestry leaders and convention delegates. There were many highlights of our wonderful day together.  In addition to the magnificent barbecue picnic, it was the standing ovation that our faithful “A” team of Angela Stanley and Arthur Bailey received when we thanked them for their amazing leadership. Arthur and Angela have taken over beautifully in the area of facilities management and upkeep. We also thanked other faithful folks like Wade Logan who served as our solicitor and John Massalon who takes over in that area. We also thanked our retiring vestry members Jo Cox, Hal Frampton and Fred Willis who have served so faithfully over the last term.

Next year is dedicated to connecting more deeply with each other and our community, as well as a deeper call to discipleship. This vision is more fully described in the video posted on our official St. Michael’s YouTube channel. Putting flesh on this along with our strategic planning process will be the topic of both our vestry and staff retreats. By the time you read this, our May retreats will be over and the summer spent on living into the goals set at those retreats. We have some very exciting plans for the fall that are being worked on diligently right now.  More news to come!
