Dynamic Downtown Worship in the Anglican Tradition

The Rev. David Booman

I visit parishioners in hospitals, nursing homes, and in their homes. I also serve the healing prayer ministry.

Family: I am married to Caity and we have one very bad, compulsive cat who expresses her chronic anxiety by stealing our socks out of the laundry basket and scattering them around the house. Upon arriving home from work at the end of the day Caity and I have a daily ritual of seeking after lost socks.

Books: Beach Music by Pat Conroy, A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, Green Dolphin Street by Elizabeth Goudge, anything by C.S. Lewis or Mike Mason. Movies: The Passion, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List, Braveheart, Unstrung Heroes.

What I like about the Lowcountry: There is so much to like. I especially enjoy the Caw Caw swamp. As a dinosaur aficionado growing up, while walking through such a primeval locale I keep hoping to see an Iguanadon peering back at me from behind a tree.

Most Interesting Assignment: Waiting tables at a Thai restaurant in West Ashley. Fantastic food and opened my eyes to how hard-working and sacrificial a good waiter has to be. It also reminded me of how many ministry opportunities there are while serving in the ‘secular’ world.
