We began on Friday afternoon with workshops; this year the Rev. David Booman and I were asked by Bishop Lawrence to offer a workshop on our relationship with Mother Emanuel Church and our joint ministries since the tragedy there. After the workshops, we participated in our Convention Eucharist, with the sermon by the Rt. Rev. Al Gadsden of the Reformed Episcopal Church. The next morning I was joined by our clergy team as well as our delegates: Mikell Scarborough, Jo Cox, David Reese, and Wade Logan for the business portion of our convention. A great deal of time was spent on the meaning of marriage and Bishop Lawrence, joined by the marriage task force asked all parishes to offer a course by The Rev. Tim Keller on The Meaning of Marriage. This is an exciting request and will be looked at by our clergy and discipleship teams. Also, our own Wade Logan and Bill Lyles were voted onto the Ecclesiastical Court for the Diocese of South Carolina. For a complete wrap-up of the convention, please go directly to our diocesan website.
