Mission Update and Easter at Church of the Resurrection, North Charleston

0416170850aWe are currently beginning a search process for a new director of mission. The search committee is being headed up by Johnnie and Jean Corbett. Please keep this group in your prayers and pray that God will raise up the right person for St Michael’s for this season of ministry.

The Financial Advisory Board, the group that reviews mission grant applications and makes recommendations to the vestry for the use of Faith Promise contributions, has a new chair. We are pleased to welcome Jay Seibels to FAB and look forward to his leadership, even as we give thanks for the fabulous leadership of our outgoing chair, Scott Cave. Thank you, Scott, for your years of dedicated and faithful service. Welcome aboard, Jay! Although we ended 2016 with significant funding available, we have since received more than 10 applications from local and international mission partners, and we are excited about the many opportunities this provides for advancing the Kingdom in all of our 4H areas.

I am pleased to report that we had a blessed Lent, Holy Week and Easter at Church of the Resurrection in North Charleston. We held our Easter service outside under a tent and had a beautiful morning of worship and fellowship with 60 present and an amazing display of the Body of Christ at its best in their service one to another and to the community.

I will be starting a new Bible study on the book of Genesis beginning Wednesday, April 26. You are welcome to join us for this study at Water Mission (North Charleston) on Wednesday evenings at 6:30. And again, please join us on Sundays at 10 for our worship. It has been tremendously encouraging to worship with friends from St Michael’s at almost every service.
