Hurricane Dorian and St. Michael’s

Monday, September 2, 2019

Labor Day

Dear St. Michaelites:

As Hurricane Dorian approaches, as with any storm we cling to our anchor in Jesus Christ and His Word.  Today’s Bible in One Year reading speaks to the power of God and His strength:

Psalm 105:4:  “Look to the Lord and His strength, seek His face always.”

With that assurance, we want to update you on events this week:

  • Because of the Mandatory Evacuation of Charleston, all events at St. Michael’s Church are postponed through Friday
  • Sunday’s Worship schedule and Vision 2019 Kick-Off for September 8 remains as normal.

For pastoral emergencies, please call the church at 843-723-0603 and the voice mail will refer you to one of the on-call clergy.

As we go through this, here is a prayer you can pray right now and with your whole household:

O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children.  The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land and sea. We turn to You, O loving Father.  Spare us from calamity, keep us safe in the palm of your hands and help us walk in your footsteps with gratitude and praise in all things.  We pray for all of the victims of Hurricane Dorian thus far, bring comfort, bring healing, and bring strength, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Blessings in Christ,

The Rev. Al Zadig, Jr.
