Dynamic Downtown Worship in the Anglican Tradition

Church of the Resurrection, North Charleston

By Rev. Mark Avera

As I write, I am now three services (Ash Wednesday and the two Sundays following) and one Bible study into life at Church of the Resurrection, and it just feels right.  I am blessed to serve a congregation of committed disciples who are hungry for more of Jesus and eager to follow both His leading and His appointed shepherds.  We have a solid fellowship of 30-35 every Sunday with a handful of St. Michaelites each week swelling that number to close to 40.  We had 20 of those 30 at our first Bible study and they brought their bibles with them!  I don’t know a pastor who wouldn’t love to see two-thirds of his Sunday attendees in weekly Bible studies and in the habit of opening the Word for daily sustenance.  It was tremendously encouraging to see.

For those of you who would like to check us out sometime, know that you have a standing invitation. We would love to see you.  We meet at Water Mission on Sundays at 10:00 am (worship) and on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 (Bible study).  We will also have a full Holy Week schedule: Palm Sunday at 10:00 am, Maundy Thursday at 7:00 pm, Good Friday at noon, and Easter Sunday at 10:00.
