In his Sabbatical message June 5, our rector taught that, “Sabbath is the cornerstone of discipleship”; therefore, we encourage you, your life groups, and your families to join us as we take some “time in” with Jesus to “rest in God and receive His best” this summer.

We will return to our regular Toolbox format in September.

Teaching Questions/Ideas

Up in Worship

Worship God through Time Spent in His Presence

Each day, take some time to read, reflect, and respond to the following questions with a passage of Scripture listed above.  Record the truths discovered in a journal.

What?               What does the passage say?

Read to observe the facts of the passage only.

So What?          So what does the passage mean?

Reflect on the meaning of the passage.

Think about what the passage reveals/teaches about

God–His character, provision, promises, plan, warnings, and commands

Jesus Christ–His work of redemption and reign as King

Humankind–who we are and who God intends us to be in His Son

Now What?     Now what does the passage mean for me?

Respond through prayer  by praising God for who He is and thanking Him for what He has done.

Listen in stillness before the Lord.

Write down how the Holy Spirit is moving you to respond as a result of the truths revealed.

Into Community

Gather together to:

Share what God has been teaching you through His Word,

Share a testimony of God’s faithfulness,

Give thanks for the Spirit’s enabling to apply a truth, and

Pray the truths discovered into your lives as a community.

Out in Mission

What will you as a community or family do to live out what God has given?

Who has God placed in your life this week that needs to know the truth you have learned about Him?

Where will you be His witness this week?
