First Communion

First Communion Course Announced
Parents, has your child been asking when he or she may begin taking communion? Did your older child miss a previous teaching on communion? Do you feel like they (or you) need a refresher? We invite all children and their parents who are ready to take their first communion (2nd graders and older are suggested) to join St. Michael’s First Communion Course. Parents and their child(ren) are asked to attend a Saturday morning retreat on May 9th (9 am – 12 pm). Following this retreat, children are invited to take their first communion with their parents on Sunday, May 10th at the 10:30 am service. This is such an exciting milestone in a child’s spiritual journey. We pray that you and your child will treasure this opportunity to connect with one another and with our Lord and Savior. Please call Amy to reserve your spot or to ask questions.

Training Choir: children ages 4, 5, and 6, directed by Rosemary Serpa. This choir focuses on learning the basics about singing, matching pitch, rhythm, and worship, and offers their talents in the form of anthems for the 10:30 service about 8 times a year.
Time required: Weekly rehearsal in 3rd floor Adult Choir Room each Tuesday afternoon from 5:00-5:30 pm.

Junior Choir: for children in grades 2, 3, 4, and 5, directed by Rosemary Serpa. This choir focuses on learning the hymnody, spiritual songs, and liturgy of the church and helps lead worship each week at the 10:30 service. In preparing anthems, they learn music reading, offering their talents in monthly anthems, and music (and solos) for the Christmas Pageant, Palm Sunday, and Easter.
Time required: Weekly rehearsal in Adult Choir Room each Tuesday from 4:00-4:45 pm and each Sunday at the 10:30 service.
