Confirmation Youth Class 2009
This year has been an amazing journey for our students being confirmed. There have been many changes in our process and these students have stood up to the challenge. They have been at youth group, attended Youth Alpha and Jesus Weekend, and spent time with mentors. Through all of this they have grown as a group, grown in their faith, and been challenged to discover in a personal way who Jesus Christ is personally. It has been a time in life I hope they will not soon forget but will, instead, continue growing and learning as we are called to do.
On Sunday, May 31st they will be asked the question, “Do you renew your commitment to Jesus Christ?” At this time they are confirming their faith, that faith which their parents claimed for them at baptism. Their response to this, “I do, and with God’s grace I will follow Him as my Savior and Lord.” These are big words for these young people. They do not mean that they have graduated from church, but that they will be bold in their faith and continue growing in Christ Jesus always. These young people are taking on the faith life their parents and those in this congregation have been sharing with them since they were born. It is an awesome and beautiful moment in the lives of these young people and the life of this congregation.
I ask that you join me, their parents, and their mentors in praying for them as they claim their faith in Jesus Christ and as they are anointed by the Holy Spirit for service to Him.

Recognizing the Graduates
We have several young people who are graduating from high school this year. As we recognize this accomplishment in their life we also would like to send them with a blessing as they set off on this new journey in life. It is important to remind these young people of the community and family they have and that no matter where life takes them, we are here to support them. For many of us, the change from home to college is one where we put God aside and live life for ourselves. However, when each of us looks back on that time there is usually recognition of some regret, even in remembering those carefree times. We often laugh about it, but I imagine that if you are at all like I, you also think about the “what if”.
It is our hope, in honoring these students Sunday, May 24th at the 10:30 am service that, by sending them off with blessing, they will have the special touch of the Holy Spirit guiding and guarding them during this time of self-discovery and growth. I ask that you join me in praying for them and their faith walk, that they will stand strong in their faith, guard their hearts, and that God will guide them and they will continue the faith journey as they move onto college or the next step in their lives.

Burundi Mission Coffee House Success!
First of all I would like to thank everyone who came to the coffee house at the church Friday, April 24th. It was a huge success just in the number of people the youth and team were able to see who are in support of our mission to Burundi. We are so grateful to each of you for hanging out with us, drinking coffee and enjoying the music. I would also like to thank our own Worship Leader, Joey Landstedt, as well as, David Childs, who both contributed amazing music sets. One of the highlights of the coffee house was also a presentation from a member of the previous Burundi team, Matt Pridgeon, who ended with teaching the patrons a simple song that the children in Gitega taught them. It brought tears of joy to my eyes to hear the whole gathering singing praise and learning more about our friends in Burundi.
The whole night was a huge success bringing in almost $900 to help support our mission. We have a long way to go, but God is faithful to those He calls. It was overwhelming to see the student’s friends, families, and others who simply care about what God is doing through our bond with Burundi. The coffee and fellowship may have brought the people out, but the true tie that binds us together is our love through Jesus Christ. So, thank you all for showing God’s love through support of our Mission.
