Alpha in the Mountains
When the Alpha team and guests headed to Montreat, NC for our Weekend Away, we knew the leaves would be changing - we just didn’t know how creative God would be with his Celestial Paintbrush! It was indeed, magnificent, and the accommodations secured by our Alpha Weekend Coordinator, Sallie Robinson, were glorious - big rambling Mountain cabins, with vast front porches, fireplaces and semi-industrial kitchens. It was as if Montreat was designed with us in mind!
Father Peet offered three insightful and fascinating talks, “Who is the Holy Spirit?”,“What does the Holy Spirit do?” and “How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?” Needless to say, the Holy Spirit blessed the event, and came to our group in amazing and tangible ways. The weekend also included lots of time for new friends to spend time together, and folks used that time to hike, visit the town of Black Mountain, play disc golf, and plain-old relax. During the Sunday session, all came up for prayer to ask the Holy Spirit into their lives. It was truly an awesome thing to see!
We will be using Montreat for years to come, and believe the Alpha Weekend will continue to grow in popularity. Folks who attended Alpha in the last year but couldn’t attend the Weekend are welcome to join us. Keep an eye out for details down the road!
Our Alpha Celebration supper is approaching us quickly. Please pray to invite your friends, families, neighbors, and co-workers…those guests who want to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere. They can simply attend the Celebration Supper and check it out for themselves to see if they would like to sign up for the next Alpha course in the spring.
